Dear (Staffer’s Name/Member of Congress),

I am your constituent. My address is: ________________________.

I speak in support of approximately 100 US survivors of thalidomide, represented by U.S.A. Thalidomide Survivors, a 501 C3 nonprofit organization. (https://usthalidomide.org).

I would respectfully request that you become a co-sponsor of bipartisan bill—H.R. 5865, the Thalidomide Survivors Compensation Act of 2025.

Thalidomide was widely used in many countries in the world, in the late 50s and early 60s, as a sedative which had the remarkable “benefit” of alleviating morning sickness for pregnant women. Though it was not approved by the US FDA, 5 million tablets were distributed in an unregulated clinical trial as samples by more than 1200 US doctors to their patients – many of them pregnant women.

The survivors today are struggling with advancing age (they are in their early 60s now). Many have severe limb deficiencies and deformities.

I SUPPORT THIS CAUSE and would like for America to stand behind the survivors who tested thalidomide with their bodies and lives, before they were even born. Let’s help them. Please co-sponsor H.R. 5865.

Contact your State’s Senator in the Senate and ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 5865, introduced by NJ Congressman Jefferson VanDrew!
